This week we're going to get right into it. We all know what happens when we hear: Ready, Set, Go! The question we have for you, this week, is what are you ready for and where are you going? So, let's break down the question:
What are you ready for? Last week we talked about theology or the study of God. Are you prepared to proclaim His name (1 Chronicles 16:8)? The 12 disciples were ready. Jesus spent day after day pouring into these men, getting them ready. Luke 9:1-6 talks about Jesus sending the 12 disciples to proclaim the kingdom of God and heal the sick:
When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt. Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.” So they set out and went from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing people everywhere.
Where are you going? Now that you're ready to proclaim His name, who's in the drivers seat? You or God? Luke 9:23-24 says:
Then he told them what they could expect for themselves: “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat—I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self.
Let's not forget Jeremiah 29:11 "I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for."
So, before you get ready and get set take a long hard look at what you're ready for and where you're going. It's easy to "jump the gun", but remember you can be representing Him even while you're getting ready to GO!
Thanks and God Bless!
