How do you do you know so much about what you do? You were taught it. People ask, how do did you learn so much about bikepacking? I was taught it and learned all I could. I poured, and still do, over webpages filled with new tips and tricks regarding bikepacking. If you ask my wife, she would say I spend too much time pouring over the webpages!
The same goes for my faith. We all learn in different methods, but I learn best via academic studies. Right now I'm studying counseling and my latest class was Theology of Christian Counseling. Theology is the study of God (simply put). For most, and myself included, the word Theology deters us. But this is what God wants us to do... study Him so we can have a firm foundation of faith in the midst of suffering.
Acts 5:42 (NIV) tells of the Apostles being persecuted, but rejoicing for doing so in His name. Despite their adversaries, they were dedicated to and teaching Theology:
Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.
I think Jaquelle Crow (18 year old editor-in-chief of The Rebelution) puts it best in her post for The Gospel Coalition:
I want that life (life based on theology) for every teenager, and I think you do, too. So parents, pastors, youth leaders, church members, please teach us theology. More than anything else, we need to know God. He’s the answer to our questions, the solution to our problems, the only One worthy of our worship and trust.
We need him, which means we need to be taught about him.
Which means we need theology.
I love how she puts that last sentence... "He's the answer to our questions, the solution to our problems, the only One worth of our worship and trust."
He's the answer and the solution, the alpha and omega! Get out there and study Him (theology) and share His Word with those around you.
Thanks and God Bless!
