Do you ever feel like your spinning your wheels?  This happens to me on long rides.  I start out with enthusiasm, energy, and determination.  Then something happens... maybe it's the heat or lack of reminding myself to drink, but I feel like I'm spinning my wheels and every mile is getting longer and longer.

The same thing happens for me in ministry.  I start out with great enthusiasm, but I find myself spinning.  Why am I not getting anywhere with this person?  I thought I set that person up for greatness with God, but something derailed it, why?  Then I'm reminded of the harvest parable in Matthew 13 about planting seeds.

Matthew 13:1-8

1-3 At about that same time Jesus left the house and sat on the beach. In no time at all a crowd gathered along the shoreline, forcing him to get into a boat. Using the boat as a pulpit, he addressed his congregation, telling stories.

3-8 “What do you make of this? A farmer planted seed. As he scattered the seed, some of it fell on the road, and birds ate it. Some fell in the gravel; it sprouted quickly but didn’t put down roots, so when the sun came up it withered just as quickly. Some fell in the weeds; as it came up, it was strangled by the weeds. Some fell on good earth, and produced a harvest beyond his wildest dreams.

Ministry is not a sprint.  It takes time to spread His good news.  You're going to meet a lot of people along the way.  Some will produce great things, some with fall off the bandwagon, and some won't even make it into the dirt.  But remember:

"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant." - Robert Stevenson

God is asking us to plant the seed (invite), water it (share His good news), and care for it (disciple).  He will bring the seed to harvest.

Plant it, water it, care for it, and then send the harvest off to market to impact more people!

Thanks and God Bless!
